ABOUT MILA

Mila Tina is a Chilean-American experience designer, performer, producer, and educator based in New York. With a background rooted in a family of musicians and visual artists, she began her career as a touring singer and musical director before transitioning into drumming and performance arts as her primary medium of expression.

Guided by her background in martial arts, sound, and narrative form, Mila developed a multi-sensory performance practice that integrates rhythm, movement, and visual design. This evolution led to her emergence as a solo performer, with appearances on international stages including a headlining performance at Envision Festival (Costa Rica).

Symbiotrix

One of her acclaimed multidisciplinary works, Symbiotrix, was showcased at conferences including Miami Art Basel. The piece explored the symbiotic relationship between rhythm, movement, and neural response through a live performance featuring real-time brainwave visualizations of a martial artist in motion. Designed and produced by Mila, the work highlighted the interplay between her improvisational percussion and the embodied intelligence of martial practice—merging art, technology, and neuroscience in an immersive experience.

Mila’s rhythmic foundation draws from West African drumming traditions transmitted through the extended lineage of Babatunde Olatunji and Bana Kuma. Her practice has been shaped by diverse musical encounters, including live collaborations with Grammy Award winner Chris Berry and shared stages with members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Paul Simon’s rhythm section, experiences that have expanded her approach to rhythm, improvisation, and live performance.

"Blending the expressive force of drumming, dance, martial arts, and visual arts, Mila Tina creates an immersive experience that delves into the intricate fabric of feminine energy and existence."

MUJER LUNA

Mujer Luna is a multidisciplinary performance that weaves drumming, dance, martial arts, and visual storytelling into an immersive exploration of feminine force, myth across cultures, and Mila’s own story of resilience. Visceral and visually rich, the piece has been featured at women-led platforms including Gold Dust Womxn and Lesbians Who Tech, where it received recognition for its embodied approach to storytelling and its cross-disciplinary depth.

RITMOFIT XP

In addition to her performance work, Mila Tina is the co-founder of RitmoFit XP, a rhythm-based wellness experience developed in collaboration with Alumbra Sport. Designed as a dynamic practice that merges percussion, movement, breathwork, and martial arts principles, RitmoFit XP offers a high-vitality format rooted in rhythmic conditioning and somatic awareness. Drawing from her background in self-defense and embodied disciplines, Mila contributed to the development of a training method that is accessible, inclusive, and grounded in both physical and energetic intelligence. Her original compositions accompany each session, honoring feminine strength and rhythmic lineage.

She recently completed an artist residency at The Church Art Center in Sag Harbor, where she developed new work exploring rhythm as a mode of perception, memory, and relationship. Across performance, wellness, and interdisciplinary practice, Mila creates experiences that invite presence, where rhythm becomes form and the body becomes a site of intelligence and design. She is currently developing The Sapphic Gospel, an experimental performance rooted in queer lineage and embodied storytelling, while expanding RitmoFit XP into new formats that bridge somatic training, sound, and collective movement. Her ongoing work unfolds at the threshold of art, science, and the unseen, offering a vivid language for those attuned to rhythm as a way of knowing.
